I have now finished week 8. I moved my phone from my arm to my pocket and it's now projecting a 36 min 5km which is much more realistic. I am feeling this week in my knee. They have been ok when running but after run 2, during the walk home, I twisted my right knee. It was ok for running yesterday but later I felt it give again and it has been sore since. I think I will miss running on Monday to give it a chance to heal, see how it is on Tuesday and decide then. The last thing I want is to make it worse and have to give up. We are also off to Disneyland Paris on Thursday so want to be fit for all the walking!

Awww sorry about your knee. It's really important to rest up after injuries - I learnt that the hard way

The knee is annoying- I hate niggly injuries as you really do have to rest. Smashed my 1.5mile time target this morning Was super pleased with that. I'm going to do same again on Wednesday then run normally up to 5k and see what the time looks like :-)

Second day in a row of c25k done. I know it says you should rest every other day at this stage, but I haven't. Has anyone else done this and does it have any negative effects? I haven't listened to beyond week one so I'm not sure if it ups the running days later on ?

Actually yes. I went from no exercise to exercising every day 18months ago. Or 5 days a week anyway. Wasn't stretching properly and gave myself a flipping stress fracture. Took months to recover.
If you've never really been an exerciser then I would suggest following the instructions, make sure you are very strict in stretching and on your rear days if you want to do something, do something low impact like a nice long walk, cross trainer or spinning if you are a gym bunny or some abs. Your body takes time to adjust to being a little fittie xx

Thanks Cat. I was a bit of a fitness freak a few years ago before I had calcium deposits in my shoulder which stopped everything. Even brisk walking was painful in my shoulder. I did push myself then, as I need the execise buzz to continue to stay on track. I will just walk tomorrow for 30 min. I think 2 days running 1 day walking will give me the buzz without over doing it. I always stretch. But I may up that a little to be sure too Thanks chick

No run today, but a nice brisk walk on the treadmill. I was hoping to get 30 min done. But I'm not sure I have time before I have to go out, so it may be 20 min. But it's better than nothing

Hi, Im going to get back into running so joining this thread.
I did start the C25K back in 2012 and in September 2012 did my first 10K which I really really enjoyed. Throughout 2013 I completed a further 5 10Ks. In 2014 I did a half marathon, but hurt my knee. I was also miserable at work so for 4 months I did no exercise and ate a lot of cake. Anyway I have since joined the gym and now determined to get back into running more.
I have a 10K next sunday, but its the race for life one so I know if I run a bit then walk a bit I wont be the only one. There will be plenty of people finishing way after me.
I ran 2.6 miles this morning (didn't have time to go any further than that)

I've got my first Race for Life 5k tomorrow. I haven't actually run 5k yet so will see how I get on. It's also in a very hilly area and I really struggle uphill!!

It was good fun! There were two huge holds that I walked up (as did most people!) but the rest I ran. Finished in 39 mins. Will now start thinking of the next goal

Excellent effort well done you! Bottle necks in races are really annoying! Great baseline you've got there xx

Did 2.7 miles this morning. Wasn't even a planned run. Was just awake so thought why not?
