I am in awe of all of you! I am new to walking and at that age where we avoid talking about it, but enjoyed a 5.25 mile walk along the canal towpath today. Also did 4.5 miles on Wednesday. I think I'm getting to enjot it

Thanks bubble. I am really trying to improve my fitness. I like the idea of the 10k but I also feel that I'm running slower than feels natural as im not fit enough to run at the right pace yet if you see what I mean. I still have a few weeks to go so maybe I'll feel more confident then. What 10k app would you recommend? I have a windows phone and use a tracking app on that but use my ipod for C25k.

I'm a very happy Marge today. I have just done my first c25k I actually did find it relatively easy. I know I don't really like running and I always complain about it, but that app really does make it easy I can't wait to be running the full 30mins !

Well done Marge! I found the first 3 weeks to be the hardest as I was convinced I couldn't run. After that I started to believe I could do it! I've completed week 8 now which is just 28 mins solid running.... Next step 30 mins! Woohoo!

I have, in the past ran the odd minute or so whilst on the treadmill, when I walk. But I always felt defeated, as I never felt I progressed. I think I will with this system You are doing marvellous !! I am very jealous

Hi Sarah - it's a large study of normal adults and law enforcement workers in the US to determine the average level of fitness of the general population. So I'm a 35 year old female so I go to that column. If I was to run 1.5miles (which the study is based on) in 11m 43 seconds(or less) I would be in the 90th percentile. That means I am faster than 90% of the rest of the population. So in the top 10%.
If I did it in say 17minutes I would be in the 20th percentile so faster than only 20% of the population meaning 80% are faster.
The study was really interesting and found the speed you could run the 1.5miles at age 40 was a huge indicator on your likelihood to have a heart attack etc.
It was referenced in a daily mail article this morning. I found it really interesting :-)
