Oh I forgot to put it on here - my class wasn't on so I just did my normal workout - I think it's been stopped due to poor numbers! Today I did a session with my PT - managed to Leg press 160kgs! Granted it was only for 1 set but I feel so strong!

So I've never done exercise classes before, ever. I've been working out at the gym for nearly a month now (cardio machines and weight machines) and am ready for some new challenges. But if the challenge is too extreme, I probably won't stick with it. What do you all recommend for a middl- aged, middle weight woman who has never done classes? What should I start out with? I sort of tempted by a class that combines pilates and yoga. Also curious about zumba. This was me a year ago! I joined the gym and was just going on the cardio machines (but not the cross trainer). I tried one class as it was just starting when I was there enquiring about a beginners spinning class. The age range of people in the class is from early twenties to seventy, and we all do the same moves but at a different level according to individual ability. The class is Group Kick, and I enjoyed it enough that after a couple of months I was doing two classes a week. I added a piloxing class ( mix of Pilates and boxing) and last month started a couple of classes at weekend -Zumba and Group Centergy (mix of Pilates and yoga - a lot of stretches and balances). Gym time changes mean that my original two classes have now been changed to a Circuits and Body Blast, so I am doing Group Kick immediately before the Zumba. so I would say try out the classes that you think are interesting, most of them can be adapted to your own level. I did try the spinning, but haven't continued with it, the main reason being that the times were not convenient, although I did feel that at the time I wasn't quite fit enough for the exercise. I'm not a cyclist so possibly someone who is would find that class easier than I did.

Wow you do a lot of classes, you must spend a lot of time in the gym. My gym changes the class times every 3 months which can be annoying if you are really getting into something and then the times don't suit. But I suppose it is only fair for everyone to get the opportunity to try every class. x

Kettlercise class this morning - 1hour using mainly my 6kg bell, lunges and abdominal work with my 4kg bell. Hard work kcals 476. AveHR: 131

Well done I only use a 3kg kettlebell but lift a 5kg hoop at Powerhoop class and that is for a short time and just about kills me!

I started out with a (2012) 2kg., then 3kg .. 4kg and now a 6kg .. Don't think I will go up to an 8kg. I really enjoy the class and the results in my body shape are good too

Spinning today 45 mins - sprints was really intense. Also did 35 mins stretching and gym machines.

Powerhoop is like hoolahoop but weighted. We do a lot of exercises lifting the hoop etc at the beginning then we spin the hoop to right then left for about 45 mins. We play basketball, football and skipping while we hoop great fun and gives a complete body workout. I use about 400 calories during the hour with all the running about I do. I can spin the hoop continuously for an hour which I do sometimes at home if I am watching TV. I am not a big fan of TV so hooping at the same time gives me exercise and stops me getting so bored. Win win. x

Thanks, I love it because it takes me back to my childhood days when I spent many a glorious day hooping out in the middle of the street. Luckily we lived in a very quiet road with no traffic during the day. x

You guys do such amazing classes, I have honestly never heard of the hula hoop class but it sounds awesome x
No exercise for me yesterday as I was so unwell and still weak so probably none for me today either, absolutely gutted as I wanted to start week three of C25K, oh well probably tomorrow if I can x

Thank you my lovely, I am feeling better after getting some sleep this morning and a lovely shower I have to be in the mood for shopping and the Bf gets stressed if he has to go in one shop lol x
