I'm vegetarian low-carbing and having one/two Exante meals each day. Keeping carbs under 1000 for now to get some more weight off. Low carbing is easy and difficult at the same time! It definitely suits me better over the longer term and during maintenance. The main problem is establishing a good level of ketosis and then managing to resist goodies LOL xx

I'm trying to keep my carbs as low as possible.. 100 at most per day but unfortunately not succeeding very often! I know only too well that it's the carbs that stop me from losing weight and I keep saying I'm going to be really strong and resist the toast and digestive biscuits but they're such an easy standby for when I need to take meds pronto and can't move very much because my back pain is very bad..(poor old me!) lol!

Hi all, glad to have few people aboard!
Im not really following any plan just trying to keep my carbs below 160g but beggining to think whether thats too high? Im actually not looking to lose weight now though im at target so its maintaining and toning now.
Aiming for 160g of protein a day too and my fat to 40g a day.
What is ketosis? X

Meant to add yea low carb takes a lot of will power but the results are amazing, just 2 weeks of clean eating and low carbs and my stomach shrunk considerably!

Another one here! I find low carbing makes me feel so much better and at the moment I'm working on having about 800 calories and 50 carbs or less a day. Of course there were many decades of other diets before this but VLCD combined with low carbing works best for me. Have been trying low carbing off and on for past three years, initially to lose weight for a hip replacement op and although I didn't do it 100% I lost three stone in four months which made me and my surgeon very happy! Since then I have been somewhat lax - can never take our eyes off the ball in this game can we - and sort of started low carbing after Christmas, but found the calories were creeping up too much. At the beginning of this week I decided I needed stricter boundaries, and for the past few days have been having a protein shake for breakfast with a multi vitamin tablet, natural protein (fish/meat/eggs) and veg as a main meal, and the other meal is usually an Exante apple and cinnamon porridge with extra cinnamon, and a half pint of skim milk for drinks. At the moment this suits me well and I'm not hungry in between. Aside from missing a few 'friends' from minimins, and the initial shock of its shutting down, I think its closure and the subsequent formation of the foodfighters board has done me a huge favour in giving the fresh hope of new beginnings!

howdy all, just checking in. Been on atkins/low carb for last 4.5 years (on minis) and dabble with primal when I can (no grains, yummy food, exercise, sunlight & sleep) Good to see you all here

Yep am low- carbing. It feels like the right way of eating for me but the problem is I'm too fond of the 'wrong' way. I make sure I eat high fat though so don't feel deprived. Belly pork and chopped peppers fried in mustard for dinner tonight, nom nom

I'm kind of low carbing, mainly Primal in my case. I started hoping that I would shift my stubborn belly fat, but that hasn't happened. Nevertheless I find my back pain lessened when I eat low carb, which is a good enough reason for me.

A great place to start is the Atkins book, 'A New Atkins for a New You'. This version (and the newer one that's out) also includes detailed plans for veggie Atkins. All the basic principles of low carbing are explained. Recipes are included along with tips and strategies to speed up losses and get over stalls.
I'd say that anything over 50g-60g carbs per day is very risky. You won't get into ketosis and will most likely still have hunger and cravings. Atkins starts Induction - two weeks on 20g carbs per day. Thereafter once ketosis is established you can stay on Induction (20g daily) or you can switch to Ongoing Weight Loss which allows up to 45g carbs per day.
The low carb levels are the secret to success xx

I am low - moderate carb 40g total carbs using the slim2btrim packs and plan. I love it because they have the low carb high protein breads and I missed bread so much. Weight loss is fantastic 3st 3lb in 8 weeks ( week 9 weigh in Friday) I wish I had found it years ago

I am moderate carbs, trying to stay a good bit below 100g as low as I can really. Seem to be getting lower each day.
Fitmiss that's a brilliant loss. Do you have much to lose?
