How are the diets going. I am a single pound UP this morning (still 2 down from last week) but really fed up. I have a box full of Slim & Save packs and cannot help thinking of how much I could lose in three weeks

We went earlier this year for the day, we drove to Macon, stopping off at St Augustine & Savannah all lovely places, there is a lot of history in all places which I love. Our niece used to live in Macon and my BIL stays just outside Atlanta. J lived in Savannah for six months before he moved permanently to the UK and I spend eight weeks in total there (over 3 trips) I loved it so much and we are thinking we might drive up again this trip though we have another trip planned for June and my sister and BIL are coming with us and I'd love them to see Savannah. I have to admit Macon was my favourite place we visited, I wanted to go to Atlanta but we just didn't have the time, next time we visit I'll try harder, lol. Ohhh yes, Savannah is a must, there is so much history there and I thought rather pretty too. How are the diets going. I am a single pound UP this morning (still 2 down from last week) but really fed up. I have a box full of Slim & Save packs and cannot help thinking of how much I could lose in three weeks Don't do it, you'll just be hungry!!!

Hi yes I have been in November. Daylight hours are pretty short. We didn't have any snow but a lot of wind. I did the west (Snaefellsness peninsula), south coast and went east to Jokulsarlon. Had to make the most of the sunlight and take advantage of the breaks in the weather! How are you getting to the north, driving or flying? And whereabouts are you going? I want to visit the north in the summer to do some whale watching. I think we may be staying in the south now. Only going for 4 days so will have to go back again another time. We are hiring a jeep so any suggestions would be welcome. I've heard that Jokulsarlon is pretty good. I'm having trouble finding waterproof/windproof trousers that fit me so think I am going to layer up and wear waterproof over trousers Do you think that will be ok?

I've only ever used the waterproof trousers that go over your own trousers, they have always been great. Just had a cheap pair from millets I think. On the way east to Jokulsarlon you will go through Skaftafell National Park. The visitor centre is worth a stop and there are some nice walks to glaciers there. Beautiful scenery from the road too (quite off putting when you're driving!). You can just see so many glacier tongues snaking their way down, very spectacular. The secret lagoon could be worth a stop (it's in between Hveragerdi and Gullfoss on the golden circle (near Fludir I think) I've not been but it's supposed to be a nice place to stop for a swim and a fraction of the cost of Blue Lagoon. Skogafoss is my favourite waterfall - the view from the top is nice (if you can be bothered to climb the stairs - there are a lot!) It's just a beautiful country, you don't even need to try and find amazing sights - they are everywhere!

Just a thought, you might not want to go as far as Jokulsarlon on a 4 day trip, it depends on where your accommodation is. If you didn't go that far and just stuck to the golden circle, Reykjavik and the south coast you would see plenty and at a nice pace!

I suppose the short days will impact on how much we will see. Its difficult planning when there are 4 of us cos don't really know what my daughter wants to do & she is so busy at work that its hard to plan at the moment. We are doing the northern lights (fingers crossed we see some)& the golden circle. Skaftafell National Park sounds lovely. Do you think that is doable from Reykjavik. Must say you have set my mind at ease about the over trousers, just need to get them turned up now cos they are about 7" too long ha ha x

Incidentally I have no idea where the pound came from as I've been good Bet that pound has disappeared again by now x Wish I had the nerve to find out Susie. Not had a good week due to hurting my foot - again - and not being able to wobble for more than a few minutes and then only some days - oh and finding out that what I have lost has disappeared from my bum and not my first place of choice (my middle) I am currently doing a very passable impersonation of the Michelin man. Not sure what I am going to wear on holiday - don't really want to go shopping as I have more than enough clothes as it is (thanks to my yo yo dieting) but anything I buy that fits the middle won't fit the bum.

I know this thread is old but I'm hoping Hubby will take me to Venice in May/June when I've reached and maintained my goal weight. Has anyone been? Any tips for me?

Hi, I've been twice. Once as a 19 year old with absolutely no money whatsoever and doing the entire thing on the smallest budget you can imagine, and once a few years ago in luxury. Essentially, walk & see as much as you can. Take in the unique atmosphere and just enjoy. If you have coffee so where, stand up near the front of the cafe, it's cheaper than sitting down! If you want an experience, have a Bellini at Harry's bar or Take a hot choc at hotel Danielli. Avoid the gondola's but do take vaporetti to travel the canals. Enjoy x

Cold & icy here, lucky you going back to the US I think it'll be a few years before we're able to get back there.
We're off to Morocco in May & then the Olympics in August, which will include, Argentina, Uruguay, Rio & Southern Brazil, I need to keep well within my target weight as I feel eating may not be that easy!!
