Hello all,
I was a user on minimins before, but when it closed although I moved over to here, I never actually posted. Since then, I have yo-yoed between binges, eating little or running lots. I am yet to achieve stability. I have ordered 4 weeks worth of slim and save packs because I feel I need a break from ''real food'' - the last two weeks since I turned 30 have been crazy with binges and attempts to stop every day. So I start tomorrow... I have my niece coming over, she is 4, so I hope it wont be difficult to not eat with her - I would hate for her to notice, but its only two days so I hope she wont!
I will use this to update my progress... and will take a look at what is going on here of late!

Hi lar1986 It`s great to see you using the Forum to share your journey with us all  I hope that you have a great start on plan and that the time that you send with your niece does not cause you too much of a problem and don`t forget that you can swap freely between the plans, so you could possibly have a couple of Lifestyle days whilst she is visiting. Good luck and we here`s to a great successful journey! |

Good morning Kira It's great to hear you're going to give Slim & Save a go again If you stick to the plan 100% or members tend to say on average those lose around 1 stone per month, so you could potentially be looking at this yourself If you feel you're struggling, pop on here and have a moan/rant and we will help to keep you on plan Best of luck on your restart! x |

Hey Kira, I don't really use any forums any more hence my absence, but really nice to hear from you, had a browse through your thread too.. I guess if you are yo yoing and still enjoying life thats the main thing and actually even if you are off plan sometimes, you to some extent have control over things as seem to spend a lot of time following whichever plan it may be? I have not ran for a long while, well since February, I was at a low weight back then but over the past 4 months I binged my way back up to a really high weight and am too heavy and unfit to run. But am returning to bootcamp classes as of tonight as I am really unhappy with my body. I finally attended the eating disorder services about 3 weeks ago for an assessment appointment which was incredibly embarrassing and scary, and the letter I got after said she diagnosed me with bulimia and recommended weekly sessions, which I am on a waiting list to attend. I was actually really shocked as I did not really think my behaviours were a big deal, but I guess they just all became normal to me. Between now and then I really want to lose weight as my bmi is 27 and I am so big nothing fits me. Aside from food and weight, I have been growing a lot in life, attending drama classes, writing and generally being more daring and open minded but my unhappiness and lack of consistency with my weight really holds me back. I do have some vlcd sachets around - probably about 15, not many, so could use them, and probably will, but I know for me I need to develop a healthy relationship with actual food, and return to exercise. I must admit I am desperate to lose weight and want fast results, but I am aware that even if i manage to find the will power to do that again, it cant be that same old cycle as it is not a healthy one and I am 30 now I've been doing this far too long. I wasnt intending to type this much, but turns out I have and it has been somewhat cathartic in just doing this and being this honest. I am very conscious of feeling a failure in the class later on today but i have to take that step if i want this weight to come off, and to get fit again. I am working from home a lot and sooo embaressed to go into work as they will see my weight gain, its the rapidity of it which is scary. It was only March when I was slim enough to wear a cropped top on a night out and actually show my belly!! Now I am officially overweight and you could not pay me to show my belly!!! Anyway I have gone on. Lovely to hear from you Kira, I know you and other kind people from minimins advised me to get help with this years ago, so at least I can update that I am kind of doing something about it, allbeit im still overweight somehow!! |

Lara it's great to hear that you are now attending the counselling/eating disorder services. Only you could make the decision to attend when you recognised and/or accepted you needed help. That's very brave and you should be proud of your self. I know when you ate healthily (real food) and you exercised in the past, that's when you were successful and happy within yourself. I'm sure you'll achieve that again - perhaps you don't even need the vlcd packs and you simply want to use them as a crutch? In other words do you really need them? Even two weeks of eating nutrious low carbs meals could put you back on track and with the counselling you'll find it easier to keep going.
It's lovely to read your update and whilst quieter in here than minis (probably because I don't visit often on other threads! It's a lovely forum with amazing people.

Yes you are right in that when eating healthily and exercising I was happiest, though it's hard for me to recall a time where I consistently did that with no either over restricting or binges and compensatory actions if I am totally honest. But yes the healthy times are def ones to build upon. I think it will be another 6 weeks or so before i start attending but it will be for 5 months which I found pretty surprising but am grateful there is such service. I was mostly embarrassed that my weight was so high, but the psychologist said in some ways it makes you more needing support as people can't tell and also said people rarely can restrict for more than a few years and eventually spiral to bingeing and purging and the like. I went to a bootcamp class and was frustrated by my lack of fitness, but I will continue to go. You are absolutely right the vlcd packs are a crutch... No planning or over eating possible with the little sachets. I guess real food scares me a bit. I am to and fro ing about whether to order more as I used them the last 2 days and think maybe just a 2 week kick start would be good. And losing a bit of weight fast will make exercise easier. I have a 5 day break soon and dreading the swim suit wearing so that's another reason. Also low carb when I was eating meet was easier now I wouldn't know what to eat (started being veggie from November last year)
Any who I am rambling now. Very grateful for your words and perspective thank you - amazing how many years it's been since we first posted!! X

Well I have decided to order some slim&save packs. Enough for about 3 weeks. Though I expect I will have some off plan days due to events where alcohol will be involved - will stick to spirit and diet mixers or soda water. And will be doing 2 bootcamp classes a week. I have used the packs since Tuesday so this would be day 4 and I must admit I feel very tired and low in mood and energy; like it's an effort to do anything including talking to people. I am sure it's just a transition, and almost the price that needs to be paid for the benefit of fast weight loss... After those few weeks I am away for 5 days and hope to incorporate more healthy eating. In fact i may just use 1 or 2 packs a day and have real food too. I just want the weight off fast as I am so insecure and lacking in confidence like this!

I successfully did 4 days on meal packs only and then probably just when I was about to get info ketosis I've got out as went to a festival yesterday and drank.
I had a meal deal with a cheese sandwich and snack a jacks and in the night I had a vegetarian lasagne ready meal from tesco and 4 activia yogurt pots. If there was more food in my house I would have definately eaten more. I drank quite a lot though wasn't as drunk as all of my friends, and stayed aware. It was a bit concerning about how excited I got to buy the lasagne and yogurt I literally ran from the bus stop to my local tesco express which was closing in 5 minutes just so I could make it! But I figured ther were loads of unhealthy foods in the festival that I managed to not have so this was a better option even if I did have 4 yogurts.
Also went to a bootcamp yesterday morning and my tracker shows I walked about 35,000 steps.
I will go for a long walk today and get back on the packs from tomorrow as I only have 1 left now. I have a family meal next Sunday, I want to do that low carb but find it very difficult when I'm a veggie. I'll see what I can do I don't know where we are going we might be having a BBQ. Also staying at my parents for a night I'm hoping I can resist the cupboard rummage! May have to do low carb meal that day too

Today I had an ok day although not a vlcd day at all:
Walked pretty much all day seriously from 11am was walking until about 10pm with a few stops in between my phone actually says I did 40,000 steps!!
Midday: Soya latte & ritz wafer thins (200 cal both)
4pm: butternut squash and falafel sandwich (440 cals)
10.30pm s&s beef soup
Half past Midnight: 2 pieces of bread with butter
I felt bad having the bread and butter even as I had it but I felt I wanted more food. Bad habits. I justified it as the food packs come tomorrow so it's ok.
I realise Friday I am going to an Italian place for dinner. So hard to eat veggie and low carb in these kinds of places. I may have to have a starter as I can see they do stuffed mushroom and mixed veg as starters.
