My now husband and I did really well on Exante a couple of years ago, she was even one of their success stories bit we've let it all go to pot. I'm seriously considering giving it another go again, he's decided that he is. We have a now 6 week old daughter. I managed to maintain my weight throughout the entire pregnancy, which meant I lost a stone and a half after giving birth but I've already managed to gain 6lb of that. Something needs to change.

Mmmm I was told last year that it takes your body 4-6 months to have your pregnancy hormones settle down, Also your appetite will still be up at a higher level, your have cravings for carbs/ sugar etc as your tired ..,if your breastfeeding then your body needs the extra 300-500 kcals .. So perhaps going on a vlcd might stress your body and make you feel worse??

I had hot flushes, headaches, the sweats, so hungry all the time, insomnia at night.. I was complaining to the doc and hospital consultant about it all ., they laughed as it is normal.. But when you have a baby you don't notice so much as your busy. The advise I was given is try some herbal supplements(sage, raspberry leaf, agnus castus) and try to resist the sweet foods.., the hormones and appetite will settle down 4-6 or even 8 mths later..

You do need to be careful having given birth so recently. Your body has different needs. Good luck whatever you decide.

I'm not breastfeeding. I wanted to but unfortunately due to complications (needing two epidurals and having quite a big post partum haemmorage) my milk supply just didn't kick in still after 2 weeks and as she was dropping weight, we had to move to formula. If I was I wouldn't even consider a VLCD.
I feel absolutely fine but have my post natal check up soon. I don't have a higher appetite, I'm just eating junk for no real reason! I'm lucky that she's so settled and content, we get one wake up in the night so I feel generally pretty good.

With Aaron doing it with you , you both can master the plan togethet but do a plan like the man plan with a meal. But as you said to me Caz about 'changes' to keeping the weight off for good. - but these no other plan that gives up the fast weight losses like a vlcd x

Caz your experience sounds similar to mine, we had a mad scramble to buy bottles and formula before I came home as I had never had any intention of bottle feeding. Sometimes a traumatic delivery can dry up any milk supply immediately. Might be worth mentioning at your check up about a diet and see what they say?

I've talked to my GP about it before and he was supportive as long as I was sensible with it, I think me having done it before and knowing it well helped with that. He ended up prescribing me Orlistat instead but I hated it, then I got pregnant so haven't done anything but SW since. I'm not seeing my normal GP next week, I'm seeing 'the mean one' so don't know if I want to chat to her about it! I might talk to Exante though and see if there's any advice they have for me.

I'd also be a little bit more careful as you've just had a baby, but really, providing you don't go too mad then I'm sure it'll be fine. Maybe use it as a kick start to drop a couple of stone and when you feel more comfortable , consider a healthier eating plan? I always say that VLCDs are great for a short term burst but not something that should be hopped on and off every other week. ( she says, hypocritically, jumping back on the wagon to lose a stone! )
Maybe consider having four packs a day ( I do this and losses are exactly the same as with three packs ) or adding in a high protein / low carb meal once a day

That's what I plan to do, kick start things for summer and then finish off with SW. To be honest, I don't really see that having just had a baby will make any difference to me. I'm not breastfeeding, otherwise it would be a big no no and have recovered really well. Iron levels, energy, general well being etc are all back to normal, the midwife and health visitor were surprised how quickly I bounced back really. Doing this will be easier than SW with a baby because it's quick, easy and simple. No faffing with meal plans, shopping, cooking etc. I've done VLCDs before so know what to expect, I think I'll be fine.
