I've just started having smoothies, usually for breakfast although I have had a small glass when I get back from the gym, whilst getting my evening meal ready.
I don't have a smoothie maker - I'm just using a hand blender and mixing the smoothies in a jug which I then store in the fridge. The quantities I have made have usually lasted for four drinks.
I have tried various versions with banana and peanut butter and have settled on my favourite combination
One banana, one tablespoon of peanut butter, one tablespoon of cocoa powder, dash of maple syrup, half a packet of tofu, carton of coconut milk. As I said this makes enough for four glasses of the smoothie. It is also good with a tablespoon of oats soaked in milk overnight and then added instead of the coconut milk.
One combination that I didn't like was using greek yogurt instead of tofu - that was a much more liquid version, and it didn't keep as well in the fridge for the second glassful.
I have just made a smaller quantity of avocado, banana and blueberry with almond milk, as I wasn't sure about keeping this one for longer.
Does anyone have any recommended recipes?
Also what about making smoothies in bulk and storing or freezing them? Does anyone do this?
i read a lot about adding greens to smoothies, I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet but are there other things that I could try?
My main target at the moment is to get more protein into my diet, I am almost at my target weight, (in fact just reached WW target but would like another couple of pounds loss) but my body fat percentage is just a little high.
I don't think I can justify spending on a nutribullet, I may consider a cheaper version of smoothie maker if I continue to make smoothies, but for the moment my old and trusty blender and jug is sufficient.

I had the avocado mix smoothie this morning. It was OK - drinkable, but not as filling and tasty as the banana, peanut butter mix one.
I may tweak the recipe a little and try it again. Perhaps add the oatmeal to bulk it up a little. I'm not sure about adding tofu to this mixture.
Failing that look for different combinations to add a little variety.

I'm back on my favourite banana-peanut butter mix this morning. I think I can count the avocado mix as a failed experiment, for several reasons
1. Although I made a smaller quantity it didn't keep as well as the other mixture. If I try a variation of this it will be made one glassful at a time, which making in a jug with a hand blender is not ideal, so this recipe may have to wait for if I ever decide to buy the smoothie mixer I looked at (not the nutribullet)
2. It didn't fill me as well as the other mixture, I was ready for my lunch over an hour and a half earlier than the days when I had the other mixture (and the Greek yogurt and fruit or porridge were better breakfasts in that respect ). So safe to say this is not a breakfast smoothie in this combination. Perhaps as an after gym workout boost.
3. I wasn't bowled over with the taste of it, there was something else needed to jazz it up a little.
I do need to find some different recipes, because as much as I am enjoying having the banana-peanut butter smoothie, I would like some variety so as to keep having them.

I have a nutribullet and my fave recipe is handful of spinach, half a banana, mango and coconut milk. You can swap the mango out for pineapple or pears. It's so filling and contains so much fibre - you don't even taste the spinach if that is something you're worried about.

I am a little doubtful about the spinach
I tried a pineapple, mango, cranberry juice and greek yogurt smoothie this morning. That one was filling, but a little sharp tasting. I don't want to add sugar or artificial sweeteners, so I will have to think what to add to that combination. Also I used a fresh mango and it was nice and ripe but very messy. I will be keeping a look out for frozen mango for future use.

I tried a different combination this morning. 1/2 apple 1/2 banana 1/4 packet of tofu 1 dessert spoon of oatmeal 1teaspoon of milled linseed(with sesame, blueberries and raspberries) 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon 1 teaspoon honey Almond milk
This is a very thick smoothie, but tasty. Not too sweet. I will have to see whether it fills me until lunchtime.

Tried the banana peanut butter combination, made just one glassful and substituted a small teaspoon of instant coffee instead of cocoa powder. Verdict. - tasty and filling Also took the plunge and made the peanut butter combo with cocoa powder and added some frozen spinach Verdict. - tasty ( as promised no taste of the spinach noticeable) filling. Colour a little bit yukky. I'm on a roll here..... Off to research more combinations

Glad you found it tasty. The spinach is great for added fibre.

I have a nice selection of smoothies that I enjoy, some more than others. I am always looking for new variations, however some that look good at first are not as promising when I have read all the ingredients as so many of them have protein powder added. I know that I was having protein shakes when I was on the herbalife diet, but I don't have any protein powder now and I don't want to buy a big container that will only be for occasional use in smoothies. So I will just keep searching through the recipes for more ideas.

I really like the Innocent smoothies. I may try to replicate the one with mango.
