Just wondered how many of us are counting calories as it's very quiet here. Would be great to share recipes and ideas or get more MFP friends

ME! lol i tried everything when i was first starting out on this journey, atkins (made me blah after about a month)tried my own version of slimming world (lost nothing) then a friend of mine "made" me a diet, which is based on my BMR and TDEE managed to lose 6 stone, i had a health scare and ate buscuits and cake by the bucket load putting back on 2 and a half stone over 2-3 months!! HOW MUCH CAKE??! So I started again, again tried WW as i thought the points system would be easier than counting calories and macros, but I didnt shift again, so I went back to my clean diet, counting macros (I have PCOS and I can't allow myself more than 30% carbs or I baloon and pretty quickly too)
managed to lose a stone and a half and now could stick if i want at 9st 7 was my original goal, but... I got to 8st 7lbs last time and I quite liked it there so I am aiming back there and allowing myself 7lbs either side of it to maintain at!
i am on MFP but for some reason this last 2 weeks it wont log me in on the laptop so I am having to use it from the tablet. let me know your username and i will add you!

hi Hun! great to hear such good testimony as the power of simple calorie counting. I have messed about with so many plans but im trying to just keep it simple and change my life. My MFP is janie1148
I dont really count macros I dont understand all that side of MFP really. So just focusing on the number. I need an idiots guide lol

I have to go the macro route due to insulin resistance as part of polycystic ovarian syndrome. I could eat 500 calories a day but if they were all carbs i would still gain weight. So i have to stick at a deficit which also keeps me under 30% carbs.. i don't know for definate but my understanding is an ideal "diet" should be around 40% carbs 30% protein and 30% fat. i have to go for 30% carbs 40% protein and 30% fat, otherwise those carbs litterally bit my bum (and cling on for dear life lol!)
My best mate has never looked at macros and keeps to calories only she managed a 3 stone loss too! so although its "simple it's very doable I love calorie counting because of my results!

That's great! Can't believe how easy I've found it this week. Much less to think about than on SW which although I think is a healthy plan I just seem to always struggle on it.

Hi all, I'm counting calories using MFP as well. Add me - I'm Krupskaya on there too. I seem to go great for a bit and then lose the plot and put several pounds back on. Desperate to make it back into the 9's! I've crept up into the 11s over this last fortnight with holiday eating so must. do. better.
Lets give each other some support!

Meeeee Hi, I'm calorie counting too. Did ww for years and years, Then did cd for a while but this was all years ago. I just think calorie counting is less restrictive and will lead me to eating normally. I want to shed the 47lbs and then use calorie counting to keep me slim. Good luck everyone. I have a Christmas Eve goal thread starting on the challenges board if anyone wants to join us xxx

Hi All,
Just joined the Xmas challenge as well then wandered over here.
Another calorie counter although the past few weeks I haven't been so trying to get back on track now. I was logging everything perfectly for weeks...then binging in evenings and not putting it on MFP to depress myself more! lol
My username on there is MrsCatAyres

I also calorie count It's the only thing I've ever tried and been successful at, though sometimes I get frustrated at the pace of things. I use MFP mainly, and have 20lb left to lose. I hope everyone is getting on well with it!

I am new here using calorie counting also counting my macros as I need to stay between 50 - 60g carb for now, hoping to drop that to less than 50g in future. I also have PCOS and had GDM in both pregnancies, so insulin resistance is an issue.
I used calorie counting to loose most of baby weight to get to pre-pregnancy weight of baby 2, but I have slipped and gained 5lb. The plan is to get to pre pregnancy weight for baby one now. I do however have some exante bars and shakes, so will be incorporating this as I love shakes for breakfast, I will be trying USN ultralean shake in future as it has lowest carb source, I've found.

I'm a calorie counter and I try to keep my carbs below 100.. in fact the lower the better.
I've tried other types of dieting but I am rather addicted to CC. I log my food on MFP but as I have to watch my salt intake due to high blood pressure I always make sure I check the entries on there as many people do not bother to enter sodium content when posting a new food entry. I also keep an eye on Saturated fat content and proteins.
(list of these daily goals in my signature)
