Fished out my popcorn machine tonight. Haven't used it in years and fancied some yummy popcorn.
Was disappointed with the texture, they were chewy and seemed stale. So armed myself with google and went on a fact finding popcorn mission.
Turns out the hot air causes the corn to be chewier than if it's popped with heat and oil. Gutted. Was really looking forward to some as well. * sad popcorn less face.
Continued my googley search and came across a blog that claimed to be able to make delicious crunchy popcorn in the microwave, with no need for oil or a bag! Happy days!
So , put a small amount of kernels in microwave safe bowl, covered with a well fitting microwave safe plate and popped in the microwave ( see what I did there? )
What happened next was truly delightful!! The happy poppy sounds of glorious popping!
After 2.5 minutes my bowl of corn was popped to perfection!
All I needed now was the perfect flavour. Hmmm. Can't use oil. So sprayed on some olive oil frylight ( I'm sure the butter one would work better but for now I went with what I had) and sprinkled on some sweetener and salt ( yes, I'm that person) and I've just nommed 5.5 syns of heaven.
