Official weigh in day today and I'm a lb down from yesterday. So first week's official loss = 5 lbs. I'm very happy with that. It's not been too much of a slog either.

Brilliant loss and not on Vlcd either, I know you weren't getting huge losses on vlcd before, so you may get better results this way esp if you can exercise a bit more on it. Some people do better keeping their metabolism going well, from what I have seen.

I am really pleased with it. Like you say, I wasn't get that brilliant losses, certainly they weren't worth the pain of the diet, so yes, perhaps this is a better way for me. I'm on my bottom all day at the moment swotting for an exam, but once that is over with then housework beckons and that'll burn off a lot of calories!
I also think that a high-protein doesn't suit me so well. I'm not sure if that is physically possible, but it's my gut feel!

That's interesting and just shows how different our bodies are. I see some people just dont lose weight on vlcd and some people losing loads on much higher calories/carbs, like on S.W where pasta is a free food! But then some people only have to look at a carb to gain a lb. My dd eats lots of junk and hardly exercises I am embarrassed to admit, but she is slim and not overweight like some kids her age. I am working on improving her diet, but it's hard when she is slim and healthy.

It is difficult. I have a very slim daughter too, who is a carb junkie. She's only young, and whilst I struggle (mentally) with her diet, part of me thinks 'she needs the calories'. It's not easy! She is also very rarely ill, which tends to suggest that she too is very healthy.
I tend to get very constipated on the VLCD, and had to supplement my exante products with Dulcaease. I must say that it's nice not to have to worry about all that.
