Hi all, im an avid crocheter and have been for decades! I've really enjoyed the resurgence of my craft over the last few years it's been lovely especially as crochet was out of favour for such a long time. I've dabbled in Tunisian crochet, Broomstick crochet, Filet crochet and recently completed the International Diploma in Crochet Design, part one. If there's anyone out there on this wonderful new site that shares my hobby I'd love to hear from you. Back to my happy hooking!!

Hi, I tried to learn about 45 years ago With no luck and have just started going to a group, learning the basics but very much a novice. I am thoroughly enjoying it though, even if the types of crochet you mention mean absolutely nothing to me at the moment, though they did start to learn Tnisian crochet one week while I was on holiday

Hi ladies and thanks for the replies, it's so nice to have someone to share my hobby with, for so many years it's been a solitary pastime. I've never attended a crochet/chat group but they sound like fun, maybe I will try and find a local one to try. I've taught a few friends the basics and they are now happily making ripple blankets and cushion covers etc. I do prefer to work 'ordinery' crochet but as part of the Deploma I took I was required to learn the other methods which was really very very interesting. Although I have made lots of things over the years my favourite items to work on are baby related, I love to work these in beautiful natural yarns, linens, cottons, silks, cashmere etc. I particularly love crafting baby blanket/shawls which will be passed down through family, the idea of these becoming heirlooms fills me with great pleasure. With twin toddler grandsons my crochet hooks are kept busy, I'm working on Thomas Tank engine hats at the moment. I look forward to hearing your crochet news, and tdqkaren the wonderful thing about crochet is all you need is to master one or two basic stitches and there's lots of things you can make, good luck with your projects, jaylou what kind of blanket are you working on? I've just recently completed a cotton Rainbow Ripple blanket for my daughter, I first saw this pattern on Attic24.co.uk and just had to recreate it. Happy hooking x

I'm a crochet nut too. Started in the 1960's. My old friend Di could crochet Aran... now that's what I call clever.

Yes I am a big crocheter. I met Lucy at one of her workshops she was running last year. Lovely lady. You can see a lot of my stuff on my blog at www.quietlystitching.blogspot.com. Have you got a blog? I do a lot of cross stitching too. Be good to see what you've made. x

I don't have a blog but will go read yours :-)
I'm currently doing a ripple blanket in shades of blue, it was in inside crochet mag a whi,e bag, it's my "go to" project, when I don't need to concentrate too much. The jumper I'm doing is a bit trickier!
There are so many things I want to make. It's great to see crochet and crafting having a popularity boost and new yarn shops opening when they were closing down a few years ago!
Gran2twins, the group is lovely, there is someone who can help and teach us new things, but mostly we just crack on, crochet, chat and drink coffee. Lovely!

I don't have a blog either. I'm not good enough. All I have made so far in cross stitch, is a small Christmas card, got the kit on sew and so and do you know, I am so blinking proud of it, I'm framing it for myself!

You should start a blog and show off your crafty makes. I just use it to record all my things I make and do but I have made some lifelong friends on it as well. x I don't have a blog either. Morning crochet lovers, craftylucyloo I will definitely be having a look at your blog, thanks. I'm not technical enough to have a blog, I do sometimes remember to take photos of my finished projects and post them on Pinterest, but not always! And they're never particularly good photos!! I love Attic24, Lucy is a very talented lady and her colour combinations are inspiring, I really love her ripple blankets although I don't buy the packs because I don't like working with acrylic yarn, although the price point is attractive I can see that. For my Ripple blanket I used 15 colours of Sirdar DK cotton and 3.5mm hook and the finished blanket is really heavy and looks beautiful, even if I do say so myself!! Lots of friends ask me to make them one but I estimate the 'make' time in hours to be approximately 90, and I'm not at all a slow worker, problem is they only see the material costs of about £75!! My gorgeous twin grandsons love my new rainbow blanket and want Santa to bring one for each of them this year, I'm thinking of working them in Aran weight cotton and a 5mm hook, that should make them pretty bomb proof, which is exactly what they need to be! Recently discovered Wisebadger.com, some reasonably priced yarns to be had and a quick delivery service. Where do you all buy your supplies from? I must get 90% online these days, oh how times have changed. Good luck with the blanked jaylou, happy hooking x

I've been crocheting since the 1960's. Since we went on line 10 years ago, I have picked up many tips from the crochet videos on Youtube. I had never heard of puff stitch before but learned it on there

I taught myself to crochet in the last year and am currently working on the Stylecraft Lilypond CAL. Never thought I could attempt it but am really enjoying it.

Allo,
I tought myself crochet a couple of years ago with youtube tutorials. I have made hundreds of blankets for people, scarves, bags, hats and also dabbled in amigurumi making things like apples for teachers gifts, stuffed toys for my daughter and so on. I have a few pics someone I can upload later.
I find it so relaxing!
