This is actually a great idea! One thing a day is not too hard is it! I'm in although we had a huge declutter when we moved in September so hopefully won't find too much!

That's exactly what I thought. One thing per day shouldn't cause me to hyperventilate!

I de cluttered a couple of years ago when I moved from a house to a flat. It was hard work as there was so many things I wanted to keep. But I done it but I've also started buying things I didn't really need but I like the look of.

Yes! I'm in...not at home at the moment, but back tomorrow (and to make up for it I got rid of the following yesterday: 2 bin bags full of clothes - (kids were too small, mine were too large!), 2 guinea pigs and all their paraphernalia - (cage, outdoor run, food, hay etc...I'm allergic so they were rehomed), and 2 small bins full of glass recycling. But there's loads more to declutter so I'm happy to sign up here!

My biggest problem is that I hate waste, so I struggle to discard anything even to charity shops

Oh I would love to join in with this as I find it so hard to get rid of stuff. One thing a day doesn't sound too bad at all. On hol at the moment but back home tomorrow so I'll start then.

I really need to declutter, I'm hoping that with one niece setting up her first home and another starting uni that I can offload a few things in their direction.
I'm really bad at throwing stuff out though so I need to give myself a good talking to and get on with it. I have a lot of things "tidied away" (hah) in the shed which should be thrown away, plus a pile of junk mail which needs to go through the shredder as it has my address on (yes I am registered with mail preference in the hope of stopping junk mail but but some especially one company that deal in cable tv/phone etc still send at least two items of mail each week despite being asked that I am removed from their mailing list)
I have made a start by putting all the clothes that no longer fit me in a pile together - next I need to put them in bags and then take them either to the charity shop or to the recycling centre.
Given the amount of stuff I need to lose one item a day will not make much of an impression, I need to think more on the lines of at least one carrier bag worth per day - or a car boot full once a week.

I love that this thread has got everybody thinking and motivated. From those who can cope with getting rid of one thing a day, to those who recognise they need to part with more. It's all great. I hope it helps us all to have a clearer house and, as a result, a clearer mind.
My weight loss should help too as I have 3 different sizes of clothes in the wardrobes and drawers. I should only need one. So as I lose weight I pledge to get rid of all things in a bigger size and I will not keep them 'just in case'.

Today saw a mirror with a broken frame and 3 knackered garden chairs being dumped out of the garage!
