After decades of yo yo dieting I have decided to opt for the long haul. Get back to a healthy life style and the weight loss will happen. The best bit of advice I was given was, there is nothing wrong with bread. The problems are 1) What you put on it and 2) How much you eat. So my mantra is: All things in moderation, and moderation in all things

I find that bread gives me really bad bloating and stomach cramps now as a result of cutting it out for so long. ...I'm now trying to slowly reintroduce it as I love bread! !!!! I'm just not opting for thick white bread toasted and coated in butter any more! !!!!

I'm avoiding buying loaves of bread because I tend to live on toast when it's in the house (laziness and not wanting to waste food!) - and put butter, jam, cheese on, as a way to make something quick and easy to eat, but I never feel really satisfied afterwards. I've had days where I've eaten bread and toast all day, and still felt like I've not had a proper meal (because I haven't) but probably got through a lot of calories. Now I buy pita breads and sandwich thins and put them straight into the freezer and defrost one at a time when I need it. It stops the mindless toast grazing! I also don't find them tempting to eat on their own, buttered, so tend to use them as part of a meal (eg. a pita bread pizza, or stuffed with salad and veggies, or a sandwich thin with a bean burger or similar! However, I do agree that bread isn't necessarily terrible, its just that it doesn't help for me to have a loaf in the kitchen!
