I was doing so well in not having sugar until i went on holiday a couple of months ago. Now it seems that is all I want to have. Anything with sugar in or on it. Is anyone up for a sugar challenge? Maybe start 1st August and see if we can do the month.

18 days in and feeling good. When walking pass a bakers I do sometimes feel like saying sod it.
My head says at 60 do I really want to still be on a 'diet' and having to watch what I eat. My heart says you need to do this for health reasons.
Back to the gym next week. Since moving to Torquay I have slacked in exercise and I think at my age it's very important to keep active so I don't seize up. I like to keep busy so don't want any excuses not to. Seen too many people my age or over struggling as they haven't looked after themselves. :-)

I've just turned 64. I'm hypothyroid which makes maintaining my recent big weight loss (since diagnosis and treatment) very difficult. I couldn't bear to allow my weight to go sky high again. It did so due to thyroid disease and even on synthetic thyroid hormone the danger of regain is ever-present.
Sugar is the most dangerous, unhealthy foodstuff anyone can eat! And it's in most of the processed items we buy. Well done for even trying to kick the habit. I'm a longtime low carber (vegetarian) but I do have cravings at times for bread and goodies. Those cravings can be powerful, and the best way to minimise or get rid of them is to avoid sugar. Eating sugar creates cravings for more. And more. I find that if you give in the pleasure is short-lived. And after weeks without sugar some treats don't taste as good as we 'remember'. Lots do of course - bikkies, cakes, pies. But the effect on our weight and our general health is scary. Keep going. I'll post here to encourage both of us! No good ever comes of eating sugar, and that includes honey, agave syrup, etc. xx

I don't see the point of replacing one sugar with another.
My grandsons have cut out sugar as well so it does help as I spend a lot of time with them while their parents work.
I avoid the 'naughty' aisles when I go shopping now.
Never done low carb is it easy to do?

I am starting Exante today, like you I have 84 lbs to loose. This time last year I had the stomach band in and dropped way below the weight I should be. I was in agony as the band was twisted. Emergency surgery and for the first time ever, a dietician was sent to me to INCREASE my weight. Well that was not a problem. I loaded 84 lbs in one year....grrrrr. I did lipotrim twice for our 2 daughters weddings then back on the weight. I am determined to get back into my clothes. So need help, advice, buddy. D

Hello Deek. So sorry I've only just found your post. I am sugar free and on vegetarian low carb/keto. I'm hypothyroid so Exante doesn't work any more. Maybe just as well LOL as I need to live on real food for health.
Please post again and let us know how you're doing xx

I have started this ordeal many times, and only now I've been doing it for more than two months. Usually, it's really hard for me without sugar, but I'm slowly getting used to drinking coffee with milk only. I know I can do it. I am sad because I found this thread too late.
