Hi everyone,
I'm probably asking in the wrong place but I am considering switching to calorie counting and need some advice.
I'm presently doing Weight Watchers, which I'm failing at spectacularly, and before that I lost 6.5 stone doing Slimming World. I've put about 2 stone back on.
I am well aware of 2 things:
1. Both Weight Watchers and Slimming World are calorie-controlled diets in themselves;
2. It's not that they weren't right for me, it's me that's struggling psychologically.
What I'm saying is: I'm trying to be clear that calorie counting isn't necessarily the magic solution and I'm aware of that.
My questions generally are:
1. Do many of you find it works for you? I ask because I googled it and got a lot of results from reputable organisations saying that calorie counting is basically no good for you and is a waste of time. I guess what they mean by that is that really you should take into account saturated fat, sugar, etc, however ultimately it must still make a difference to your weight.
2. Do you count literally EVERYTHING? A long time ago I lost quite a bit of weight on calorie counting but had no guidance whatsoever, ended up going overboard and was, I feel anyway, a couple of steps from ending up anorexic. I got so obsessed with it. Then went the other way eventually and piled it back on. Anyway, during this time I counted everything except fruit and veg. I also foolishly didn't count any drinks, and sadly that included alcohol. 😂 I'm inclined to go with the approach of not counting fruit and vegetables or diet/no added sugar drinks but I'm curious about what other people do and what they find works best for them.
3. Is there anyone here who used to do Slimming World/Weight Watchers but finds calorie counting better?
I'd be grateful for any advice, but also I just want to hear how other people do things. 😊
