Hmm, I've been musing this overnight - I was thinking about whether I really have cut out sugar or not. I don't add it to anything, but I do still:
Drink Eat loads of fruit Have nut milks which I note have sugar added, because I can't find ones that don't Have the very occasional, well actually 2 a week, which isn't that occasional, croissant Eat honey
Suddenly, this seems like quite a lot of sugar?

Has anyone found an artificial sweetener that doesn't have an aftertaste? I tried Stevia but couldn't handle the aftertaste (although I think I am very sensitive to saccharine-like tastes). I don't add sugar to much but I do miss my morning cup of coffee. Xylitol is next on my list to try.

I'm here to subscribe as I need to kick the sugar habit too. I did once any years ago after reading "Only Fat people skip breakfast" by Lee Janogly. In it she mentions the two books "Sugar Blues" by William Duffy and "Pure White and Deadly by John Yudkin" and said that they "produced a light bulb moment" for her. I did lose a fair bit of weight, but as usual I went back to my old eating habits.

Restarted quitting sugar. I was doing well on it a few month back. Unfortunately Ive been ridiculously bad with stress eating recently. Is usually sugary treats again.
Just resisted a toffee at work for the first time in ages.

This looks interesting. I've never looked deeply into it. When I'm in full swing and shedding the lbs I'll come back to this. I'll start reading up tonight and start making small changes. Thanks for the thread x

Granulated Stevia - without added inulin, etc - is the very best no carb, no cal sweetener and can be used for cooking and baking. I use NATVIA on a daily basis. I buy it on Amazon - four wee drums for £10. Not cheap but not hugely expensive and I use it every day. Next best are Xylitol and Erithrytol. Splenda is good too but has a very small amount of carbs and to my mind lacks sufficient body for cooking.
When I studiously avoid sugar my weight drops fast. However since I am addicted to the pure, white and deadly stuff (I read both books mentioned earlier many years ago - they're great) and also to white flour and the myriad goodies made from both I often stumble. Even so I get back into ketosis as quickly as I can because sugar in particular makes me very hungry. I become swamped with cravings until I can't hold out any longer.
Sugar free chocolate and sweets are much better for health than sugary ones. Look up low-carb/sugar free recipes online. Most things can be made with sugar and white flour substitutes xx

Since my holiday in August I slowly ended up on sugar again. Decided to reduce sugar as felt much better before. I may have picked the wrong time of year to try again. Haha. However even after a short time the cravings have reduced.

Thank you for this text. I like the way it is written. They usually say "just stop eating anything that says sugar." But no one says that milk has sugar in it, and fruit has sugar in it, too. You can't eliminate it completely, but you can reduce the amount. It's important to understand. I am trying to avoid as much sugar as I can.
